The 2024 KIDS COUNT Data Book was recently released and South Carolina ranks 39th in education in the nation, far behind the national average. Right here in Richland One, only 44% of our students are meeting or exceeding ELA and English expectations and only 30% are meeting or exceeding math expectations*.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Richland One is rich with resources that aren’t being utilized effectively. Despite having one of the highest per-pupil expenditures in the state, Richland One students are falling significantly behind their peers statewide. Too few resources are making it into the classroom, leading to poor outcomes even as spending continues to rise. If you want to help us shine a light on these problems and advocate for better results for our students, join GROW.
GROW believes in the power of facts—bypassing dysfunctional leaders and communicating directly with the public. We are researching, tracking, and fact-checking Richland One leaders to inform and empower the stakeholders and community at large. Together, we can Get Richland One Working.
